Hi, I'm Sonja
I'm an Accredited Practising Dietitian with over 15 years of paediatric experience in hospitals and private practice.
My special interest is looking beyond simple "healthy eating" messages, and helping families struggling with feeding their child to:
-
develop confidence and skills to improve nutrition
-
accept and work with challenges and differences in their child's eating, or way of feeding.
My experience
I started my dietitian life working with adults in various hospitals in Adelaide and Melbourne. About 8 years in, I had the opportunity to work at the Women's and Children's Hospital in Adelaide and my love of paediatric nutrition started. Soon after this, I started my own family, and I experienced some of the highs and lows of feeding babies, toddlers and children first-hand. I went on to work with:
-
Lively Eaters in Adelaide, a clinic dedicated to helping families struggling with very limited diets and tube feeding, and specialising in tube weaning
-
Ready Step Grow in Melbourne, a support and education program for families of babies born prematurely
-
Offspring Child Health Specialists in Melbourne, a multi-disciplinary clinic helping families with a range of nutrition, growth and feeding difficulties, allergy and complex medical problems
-
Trust Children, a multi-disciplinary clinic in Melbourne focussed on helping families whose children have feeding differences that limit their ability to meet their nutrition and growth needs, and make eating stressful.

In my work, I bring together the knowledge and insights I have gained from helping hundreds of families in these different settings, as well as my own experiences as a parent of three children.
